Planning The Wedding Rehearsal Dinner

Planning Your Wedding Dinner

The rehearsal dinner, which takes place the night after the wedding rehearsal (which itself usually takes place mid-afternoon the day before the wedding), is the groom’s responsibility.  It can be lavish, simple or something in between.  You can have it at the yacht club or a pub, depending on your taste and spending inclination.  The rehearsal dinner is usually a jovial, somewhat laid back celebration leading up to the crescendo of spirits and emotions on the following day.  Think lots of laughter, reminiscing about the bride and groom, jokes and toasts.  The father of the bride and the father of the groom sometimes stand up, say something sweet and cute about the wedding couple and make a toast.  Same for the Best Man and the Maid of Honor.  Bride and Groom usually follow suit with their own toasts and funny stories.  Overall, rehearsal dinners are relaxed get togethers of the main participants in the wedding, kind of a windup for tomorrow’s high octane, and occasionally emotionally draining, events.
