How To Get A Marriage License
In order to be legally married, you and your Bride have to obtain a marriage license. This is usually obtained through the county clerk’s office in the county in which the wedding is to take place. A very simple process, all that is required is that you and your Bride fill out a little form, sign it, pay a small fee, and then you get an official piece of paper saying that you filled out the form, signed it, paid the fee and it’s okay for you to get married—at least as far as the county is concerned. Without being droll about it, it’s an excuse for counties to tax marriages and keep track of the number of people getting married in the county. It’s important to hang onto the license and keep it in a safe place because sometimes in legal matters you are going to have to prove the two of you are legally married. This slip of paper does just that.
